Mr Danny Nicholls
I am very proud to be the Foundation Principal of Te Matauru Primary, a position I commenced in January 2019 one year ahead of the school's opening. It has been an incredible journey ever since. I am very proud of what we are building at our school and the way our community is growing around us.
I started my teaching career in Christchurch before moving to the North Island where I have spent the majority of my career to date. This included fourteen years in Principalship and leadership advisory/ consultancy. I have had the privilege of leading and serving on national advisory groups and Principal associations and am now relishing making Te Matauru a school which serves the community of West Rangiora well. I focus on being present and engaged with our tamariki and whānau and leading our teaching and leadership team towards achieving our school vision.
I am a proud father of three and my wife is also a primary school teacher. We have wider family in the area which prompted our return from the North Island. We are enjoying life in North Canterbury. We live in the Te Matauru zone so you will see us around the neighbourhood out of school hours.
Away from work I enjoy writing and reading, time with family and am slowly (very slowly!) getting back into running which I have dabbled in for a number of years and really enjoy. I am a football tragic who has followed Liverpool since they last won the Premier League, and am enjoying the current golden patch!
