Mr Danny Nicholls
Principal
I am very proud to be the Foundation Principal of Te Matauru Primary, a position I commenced in January 2019. It has been an incredible journey ever since. I am very proud of what we are building at our school and the way our community is growing around us.
I am currently in my 16th year of Principalship, the majority being in the North Island. During that time I also led and served on national advisory groups and Principal associations, as well as mentoring Beginning Principals in the Bay of Plenty region.
I am now relishing making Te Matauru Primary a school which serves the community of West Rangiora well. I focus on being present and engaged with our tamariki and whānau and leading our teaching and leadership team towards achieving our school vision.
Contributing back to education is hugely important to me. I am a Board of Trustees member at both Marian College and St Patrick's Kaiapoi. I am an elected executive member of the Canterbury Primary Principals Association and an appointed mentor to two local Principals.
I am a proud father of three and my wife is also a primary school teacher. We live in the Te Matauru zone and are part of the wider community, so you will see us around the neighbourhood out of school hours.
Away from work I enjoy writing and reading, time with family and am slowly (very slowly!) getting back into running which I have really enjoyed over the years. I am a football tragic who has followed Liverpool since I was a boy, and am enjoying the current golden patch!
Please be in touch if you would like to know more about Te Matauru Primary.
